Garisani Detective Agency is a free, two-player online co-op deduction game set in 1990s Korea, the era of pagers and payphones. One player is a human detective who questions people and searches crime scenes; the other is his ghost sister, who can only whisper and slips into hidden spaces. Each sees different evidence, so you solve four cases by pooling clues on a shared case board. It suits pairs who already enjoy talking each other through asymmetric puzzles.
Reception is split: 12 of 22 Steam reviews are positive, and only two players wrote anything. Both liked it, calling the deduction satisfying and the retro look charming, and one found it genuinely difficult. Both also mention lag, map stutter or possible bugs, which may explain some of the negative votes.
The game has no built-in voice chat by design, so you will want Discord or a call alongside it, and you need a partner because there is no solo mode. Expect around three to four hours for the four stages. Since it costs nothing, it is worth a try for co-op detective fans, but go in expecting some technical roughness.
Pros
- Human and ghost roles see different evidence, forcing real teamwork
- 1990s Korean setting with pagers and payphones stands out
- Free to play, with four distinct cases
Cons
- Both written reviews mention lag, stutter or bugs
- No in-game voice chat; you need a separate call
- Mixed rating from only 22 reviews; strictly two players
About
Garisani Detective Agency is a real-time two-player co-op deduction game.
One plays as a human, gathering clues through conversation and on-site investigation. The other plays as a ghost, using whispers instead of words and exploring hidden spaces. Together, you piece together different clues to uncover the truth.
Four stages await, each a case with its own structure. They don't just get harder—every stage brings new characters and puzzles for a fresh experience.
Communication
The defining feature is information asymmetry: the two players collect different evidence, and each must work through their own role. Co-op mode is built around this and does not support voice chat.
Co-op Deduction
Two partners, one goal: solve the case. Work it out through relentless communication! Place your evidence on the case board to share what you've each found, and experience a one-of-a-kind deduction mechanic.
