A-Escape VR is an early room-scale escape room built with a real-world escape room company. After a tutorial room that teaches its locks, you get a short warm-up room and one large main room, all solved with dials, combination padlocks, directional locks and keys. It is aimed at VR owners who want something close to a physical escape room.
Players who got it running praise the puzzles: several call it one of the most realistic VR escape rooms they have tried, with clues that must be combined across the room and plenty of note-taking. Reviewers rate it as hard, especially the big second room, and most finished in two to five hours.
The complaints are technical. Many reviewers find the lock controls fiddly, items can fall through walls and force a restart, and there is no save. Several negative reviews report it never worked on Valve Index or Rift S, and that support has gone quiet. At this low price it is worth a look for Vive or older Oculus owners who enjoy hard lock puzzles; Index owners should skip it.
Pros
- Lock-and-key puzzles feel close to a real escape room
- Clues must be combined across the room, rewarding note-taking
- Several hours of play for a very low price
Cons
- Players report it does not work on Valve Index or Rift S
- Fiddly lock controls and items lost through walls
- No save feature and little sign of ongoing support
