Unavowed is an urban fantasy point and click adventure from Wadjet Eye Games, set in the Blackwell universe. A demon possessed you for a year; freed by the Unavowed, a secret society fighting evil, you join them and solve supernatural cases across New York. You pick an origin story, and for each case you take two companions whose skills open different puzzle solutions. It suits solo players who want a story-heavy adventure with choices.
Steam reviews are very positive (1,778 of 1,872). Players call it the culmination of the studio's craft, praising the writing, the companions, the soundtrack and the retro art. Reviewers highlight that choices have real consequences and that companion combinations change how cases play out, which gives it replay value.
Complaints are rare. Puzzles are streamlined rather than hard, so veterans of tough adventure games may find them light, and one player found the opening overwhelming at first. Expect around 15 hours. For point and click fans, this is an easy recommendation.
Pros
- Supernatural New York cases with strong writing
- Companion pairs change how each case can be solved
- Choices and origin stories add replay value
Cons
- Streamlined puzzles are light for genre veterans
- Busy opening can overwhelm at first
