Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy collects the first three Ace Attorney games in HD. As defence lawyer Phoenix Wright you investigate crime scenes, collect evidence and then take on prosecutors in court, pressing witnesses and presenting the item that exposes a contradiction in their testimony. It suits solo players who like mysteries, puns and big courtroom reveals, and it is the place to start the series.

Steam reviews are overwhelmingly positive (about 97% of 10,358). Players love the absurd humour, from interrogating a parrot to bizarre witnesses, the memorable characters and the soundtrack. Many wish they could forget it to play it fresh, and several people say it inspired them to study law; even a practising attorney wishes the job were this fun.

The usual advice is to avoid wikis and comments until you finish, since character names alone can spoil twists. Occasional cases need you to guess the exact piece of evidence the game wants. The trilogy is long, often 50 hours or more, and cheap. For mystery fans it is a must-have.

Pros

  • Find the contradiction and present the evidence that breaks it
  • Three full games of absurd, funny courtroom drama
  • Huge amount of content for a low price

Cons

  • Some cases want one exact piece of evidence
  • Easily spoiled online, so avoid wikis
