Between Time is a first-person escape room from mc2games built around a stolen time machine. You hop between five rooms set in different eras and places, including Aztec-style ruins, an alchemy lab, an icy facility and a Western saloon, with an AI assistant called A.I.T.M.A. along for the ride. It suits solo players who already enjoy clue-heavy escape rooms and do not mind getting stuck.
Players like the variety of settings and say the puzzles lean on reading clues and logic rather than combining inventory items. The split comes from fairness: a sizeable group found later rooms open to interpretation, with solutions that only clicked after brute force or a guide. The hint system draws the most criticism, described as vague or pointing at things you already have. Several reviewers single out the alchemy and temple rooms as the weakest.
Movement is also slow, a complaint carried over from the studio's other games. Most players finish in four to six hours. Recommended on sale for escape room veterans who want a tougher set of rooms; newcomers will find Escape Simulator or the studio's gentler titles more forgiving.
Pros
- Five rooms in distinct eras keep the scenery fresh
- Clue-reading logic puzzles rather than item-combining busywork
- Several rooms stand out as genuinely satisfying to crack
Cons
- Hints are vague and some puzzles have none at all
- Later solutions can feel obscure enough to need a guide
- Slow walking speed with no run toggle
