Our verdict

5.5/10

  • Difficulty: Medium
  • Players: 1
  • Playtime: <1 h

EscapeVr is a short VR-only escape game from Fence-In. You wake up in a dark apartment next to a dead body and need to get out before the police arrive. Almost everything can be picked up, and the game encourages breaking things with a baseball bat to find what you need.

Only nine Steam reviews exist, four positive and five negative. The players who got it running enjoyed the physical freedom and called it short but entertaining, with an abrupt and slightly silly ending. Most of the negative reviews never got that far: several players could not move, and others report that Valve Index and Vive wand controllers were not recognised. One reviewer notes the game seems built for Oculus headsets.

That makes the hardware check the main question. On a supported Oculus setup with room to walk, it is a brief murder-scene escape you can finish in under an hour. On other headsets, reviews suggest it may not work at all, and there is no sign of fixes. Skip it unless you are sure your controllers are supported.

Pros

  • Almost every object can be grabbed, thrown or smashed
  • Tense murder-scene premise with a police deadline
  • Short enough to finish in one sitting

Cons

  • Several players could not move or use Index and Vive controllers
  • Very short, with an abrupt ending
  • VR-only, with little sign of ongoing support
