Lost in Play is a hand-animated point-and-click adventure from Happy Juice Games. Siblings Toto and Gal play make-believe, and their games turn into a journey through goblin villages, a horned beast's forest and other dreamlike places as they try to get home. There is no readable dialogue; everything is told through pictures and gibberish voices. It suits families, couples and anyone after a gentle, funny puzzle game.
Players rate it Overwhelmingly Positive, with about 97 percent of more than 2,000 reviews in favour. Reviewers compare it to Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall and Machinarium, and keep coming back to the animation, the jokes and the variety of minigames, from card games with goblins to a crab-clicking contest. Puzzles are described as fair and mostly easy, with a built-in hint system that nudges without spoiling. Several played it with their children.
The caveats are small. Most finish in four to six hours, and a few say to wait for a sale. A couple of reviewers called out specific puzzles, such as the snake lock and prison lock, as unclear, and some wished for real voice acting. Highly recommended, especially for playing with kids.
Pros
- Cartoon-quality animation that reviewers liken to Gravity Falls
- Over 30 varied puzzles and minigames, like card games with goblins
- Wordless storytelling and hints make it easy to play with kids
Cons
- Four to six hours long; some suggest waiting for a sale
- A few puzzles, like the snake lock, have unclear rules
- Puzzles may feel simple to experienced adventure players
