Lost Legends: The Pharaoh's Tomb is a short VR escape room made by Escape VR with the real-world company Escape Games Canada. You wake up trapped in an Egyptian tomb and must solve the pharaoh's riddles with ancient artifacts to find a way out. It is built for beginners and newcomers to VR, with no free locomotion and an average run of about 20 minutes.
Steam reviews are mixed, 6 positive out of 10. Players who liked it praise the good-looking tomb, solid voice acting and a convincing feeling of being trapped. Reviewers report finishing in 10 to 26 minutes, with two rooms and a small maze.
The criticism is consistent: it is very short and the puzzles are obvious. One reviewer also notes that some puzzles need more room-scale space than a small play area allows, without warning, and another clipped out of the level. It is worth a few dollars on sale as a VR demo for a friend or a tomb-raiding fan; anyone after a real challenge should skip it.
Pros
- Convincing Egyptian tomb with good voice work
- Low learning curve suits VR newcomers
Cons
- Over in 10 to 25 minutes
- Puzzles are obvious for experienced players
- Some puzzles need a larger room-scale space than stated
About
Your eyes take a moment to adjust, you’re disoriented as you wake up, unsure of where you are. You vaguely remember falling, but you have no idea where you landed. “None have disturbed my slumber and escaped alive!” The ominous voice booms as you realize the entrance has been blocked and you are trapped in a tomb alongside an ancient Pharaoh; you need to escape! There must be a hidden passage somewhere, but instead of doors, you encounter a series of puzzles. Use the ancient artifacts to solve the Pharaoh’s riddles or face his wrath and be doomed to the darkness of the tomb for the rest of eternity.
This is a short escape room experience, averaging about 20 minutes. This game was designed with a very low learning curve so both beginners and advanced players could easily understand the mechanics. We also aimed to minimize player fatigue and motion sickness by balancing quality and duration.
