Our verdict

7.5/10

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Players: 1
  • Playtime: <1 h

No Murders in Grimwick is a short, cosy point and click mystery. You are a journalist covering a small town's harvest festival when a local turns up dead, displayed in the scarecrow competition. You explore the hand-drawn fair, question odd townsfolk, collect and use items, and work out what happened, with no combat or time pressure. It suits solo players who want a spooky-season evening mystery.

Steam reviews are very positive (47 of 52). Players love the hand-drawn look and the creepy but cosy autumn mood, and call it a sweet whodunit made by a single developer.

Almost every review mentions length: most finish in under an hour, some in 40 minutes, and several say the mystery is very simple. Critics feel the price is high for that, and one notes there is no soundtrack. Buy it on sale if you want a cute one-sitting mystery; skip it if you want a real detective challenge.

Pros

  • Hand-drawn harvest festival with a creepy but cosy mood
  • Question odd townsfolk and use items to solve the case
  • No combat or time pressure

Cons

  • Finished in about an hour or less
  • Very simple mystery with little challenge
  • Pricey for its length and has no soundtrack

Welcome to Grimwick, where the annual harvest festival has been interrupted by a very inconvenient murder.

You’re a journalist visiting the small town of Grimwick to cover its beloved fall festival. What should have been an easy story quickly turns into something much stranger when a local is discovered dead and displayed as part of the scarecrow competition.

Take your time exploring Grimwick and piecing together the mystery. There’s no combat or time pressure. Only a relaxed investigation filled with dark themes, strange humor, and plenty of fall festival charm.

Designed as a short, story-driven adventure of approximately 1–2 hours, No Murders in Grimwick is perfect for a single cozy evening or for enjoying at your own pace across multiple sessions.

  • Explore a hand-drawn harvest festival and meet its strange townsfolk

  • Question suspects, investigate clues, and follow leads

  • Collect and use items to unlock new paths and information

  • Discover optional conversations, secrets, and ridiculous side activities

  • Uncover a darkly funny story of murder, small-town rumors, a suspicious "cult", and fall festival spirit
