Riddlord: The Consequence from Amrita Studio is a 3D puzzle-box game in the style of The Room. You play detective Jack Reed, searching for his kidnapped son through three chapters of mechanical contraptions, plus an epilogue, with puzzles drawn from real serial-killer cases, I-Ching trigrams and alchemy symbols. It suits solo puzzlers who want something harder than The Room and can tolerate rough edges.
Players are split almost evenly: 20 of 37 Steam reviews are positive. Fans praise the art and atmosphere, a longer run than The Room, and some genuinely tough puzzles that send people to pen and paper. The most common complaint is the controls: objects do not rotate or move as expected, so several puzzles become a fight with the interface. Rubik's-cube style puzzles and mystical riddles with no clear logic frustrate many, and the story and English translation are widely mocked.
Some players also hit bugs that stall progress, without a save to fall back on. The game takes most players five to ten hours. If you have finished The Room and House of Da Vinci and want more, it is worth a try on sale; everyone else should start with those first.
