Our verdict

8/10

  • Difficulty: Medium

  • Playtime: 1–2 h

Spacescape is a free VR-only escape game from Silver Machine Studios. You are stranded on a zero-gravity space station above Earth and have to work through several rooms of logic puzzles and hidden clues to find a way home. It supports room-scale play, teleporting and full stick movement, so it suits most headset owners, and costs nothing to try.

About 45 of 55 Steam reviews are positive. The one detailed review describes a game built purely around looking closely at your surroundings and working out what to activate next, with no combat or enemies to distract from the puzzles. The store promises difficulty that rises from room to room, and SteamSpy tags point to a straightforward space-themed puzzle game rather than a story-heavy one.

Written feedback is very limited, so there is little to go on for how fair the later puzzles are or how long a typical run takes. The tags carry few votes and the small review count suggests a modest, no-frills production. Given the price, it is an easy download for VR owners curious about a sci-fi escape room; players wanting a polished narrative experience should look at paid alternatives.

Pros

  • Free sci-fi escape room on a zero-gravity space station
  • Room-scale, teleport and smooth movement all supported
  • Puzzles grow harder across several station rooms

Cons

  • VR only, single-player
  • Modest production with little story to tie the rooms together
