The Cabin: VR Escape the Room is a short, VR-only escape game from Blue Entropy Studios set in a snowbound cabin in the woods. Five small linked rooms are built for true room-scale play, with no teleporting: you physically crouch, crawl through gaps and climb into rafters to search for clues. It suits VR owners with a decent play space who want a brief, atmospheric escape.
Players like the immersion of moving with your own body, along with the voice acting, sound and wintry lighting. The puzzles get less praise. Many reviewers say most rooms come down to finding a key and using it, with only one or two real logic puzzles, and a timed final room where you can die. Some found it fair and steady; others felt it barely counts as a puzzle game.
It is very short, around 15 to 30 minutes, and players report bugs such as respawning outside the map, swapped hands, keypads misreading presses and play-area alignment problems, plus trouble reaching items in smaller spaces. At a few dollars it is a reasonable bundle or sale pick for a roomy VR setup; puzzle enthusiasts should look elsewhere.
Pros
- True room-scale design with crawling and climbing, no teleporting
- Good voice acting and snowy cabin atmosphere
- Five linked rooms give a sense of progression
Cons
- Most rooms boil down to finding a key for a lock
- Over in 15 to 30 minutes
- Buggy respawns, keypad misreads and play-area alignment issues
