The Seven Keys: Escape Room from FigaroGameStudios is a single-player first-person escape game with a light horror story. Detective Jake Stone is knocked out while investigating shots at the Hoffman house and wakes in a strange place, haunted by visions of a woman and child, with a mysterious helper guiding him through a chain of themed rooms. It suits patient solo players who want a cheap, slightly creepy puzzle run.
Players are divided: 8 of 14 English Steam reviews are positive. Fans describe a mix of very easy and genuinely hard puzzles that take some out-of-the-box thinking, and a short run of about one to three hours. Critics hit a wall on an early puzzle with no in-game hints and few guides online, and some disliked a lantern that runs out of fuel and leaves you in the dark.
Bugs are the biggest worry. Early reviews mention keys that cannot be picked up, empty examine text and a later room whose puzzles would not respond, though one player says many issues were fixed later. Rough translation and music that cannot be muted separately also come up. Only worth it on sale for players comfortable getting stuck without help.
Pros
- Mix of easy and tough puzzles across distinct themed rooms
- Detective story with a hint of psychological horror
- Short enough to finish in an evening
Cons
- No hints and few guides when you get stuck
- Reports of bugs that block progress in some rooms
- Dark rooms and a lantern that keeps running out of fuel
