Our verdict

8/10

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Players: 1
  • Playtime: 5–7 h

Doors: Paradox is a cozy puzzle game built from 58 small 3D dioramas, each ending at a locked door. A time-travel guide named Zula leads you through 13 themed realms, from forest and desert oasis to a futuristic zone, while you search for hidden objects and collect story scrolls. It suits relaxed solo players, couples sharing a mouse, and anyone who wants a gentle evening puzzler.

Roughly 90% of over 1,100 Steam reviews are positive. Players praise the varied, good-looking scenes and the satisfying animation when a door opens, and several played it together with a partner. Most puzzles take only a handful of actions; the confusion, when it comes, is about working out what the goal looks like, and a built-in skip option helps there.

The main criticism is that it is too easy for experienced puzzlers, with a few repeated puzzle types and slow animations and loading. One reviewer disliked a needle-balancing door that plays like a reflex game, and a parent warned that a vampire and occult-themed level may not suit young children. Expect five to seven hours. At its low price it is easy to recommend for casual players; seasoned escape fans should look elsewhere.

Pros

  • 58 handcrafted door dioramas across 13 themed realms
  • Puzzle skip option keeps the relaxed pace going
  • Low price for a solid five to seven hours

Cons

  • Too easy for experienced puzzlers; some puzzle types repeat
  • Slow animations and loading pad out the playtime
  • Occult-themed levels may unsettle young children
