I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and the Liar is Schell Games' VR-only follow-up to its spy escape game. Across six missions you go undercover to stop the villain group Zoraxis, using telekinesis and disguises to handle gadgets, explosives and traps while seated in a single scene. It suits VR owners who want a polished, funny puzzle game with a Cold War spy movie feel.
Around 97% of more than 1,000 Steam reviews are positive. The one written review singles out the musical intro sequence and notes that some puzzles are quite hard but rewarding once solved. SteamSpy tags highlight puzzle, comedy and a stylised retro look. Dying is part of the joke: each mission is a deadly room you learn by trial and error.
The main limits are that it needs a VR headset and that six missions go by in three to four hours, so the price is steep per hour. Accessibility options such as seated play and no timed input help. Buy it if you have VR and enjoy escape rooms; wait for a sale if length matters.
Pros
- Six spy missions full of gadgets, traps and dark jokes
- Telekinesis lets you play comfortably seated
- Memorable musical intro sequence
Cons
- VR only
- Pricey for three to four hours of missions
