Split Brain is an online, two-player co-op puzzle game in which both players share one body. One of you moves the character while the other sees the world differently and has to guide them, and roles swap between levels. You are trying to escape a strange prison called Hexarture across ten levels with a psychological horror edge. It suits pairs of friends who enjoyed We Were Here and want a fresh communication puzzle.
Players praise the asymmetric idea and say each level adds a new mechanic, so it rarely feels repetitive. Puzzles are described as logical once you connect what each player can see, and clear voice chat is essential. Several reviewers enjoyed the tense moments when a ghostly presence appears in later chapters, and the ending gets positive mentions.
That tension is also the main complaint: from around level five the game adds stealth and chase sections, which some players found clunky, unfair or simply not what they signed up for. A few found the story confusing or hit glitches. Expect four to six hours together. At its low price it is a strong pick for a co-op evening; skip it if you want a calm puzzle game with no scares.
Pros
- Two players sharing one body is a genuinely fresh co-op twist
- Each level brings a new mechanic and roles swap between levels
- Low price for a full evening of co-op puzzling
Cons
- Mid-game stealth and chase sections frustrate many players
- Story is hard to follow by the end
- Online only and needs exactly two players with voice chat
