ALUMNI is a first-person escape room adventure from M9 Games. A scientist sips coffee laced with a time-shifting serum and wakes inside broken memories of Ridgeway College, where each area is a locked set of puzzles to clear before moving on. It is aimed at solo players who like classic inventory-based escape rooms in the style of 90s adventure games.
Player reception is split. The Steam summary is Mixed, with 29 of 42 reviews positive. Player tags point to a relaxed, exploratory pace: escape room, hidden object, point and click, logic and family friendly all score highly, so expect searching rooms, collecting items and combining clues rather than tense timed sequences. The one written review in our sample calls it entertaining and notes several challenges per level that need some thought.
The evidence is thin, and the third of players who left negative reviews suggests the experience is uneven. With a median of under four hours among positive reviewers, the full price is on the high side for what it is. Consider it on sale if you enjoy calm, item-driven escape rooms; look elsewhere if you want a polished, widely loved pick.
Pros
- Time-travel premise frames rooms as warped college memories
- Classic inventory puzzles with several challenges per area
- Calm, exploratory pace with no timers
Cons
- Mixed reception: about a third of reviews are negative
- Single-player only
- Full price feels steep for a few hours of play
