Samsara Room is a free single-room point-and-click escape game from Rusty Lake, rebuilt from the studio's early prototype with new puzzles, story, art and music. You wake up in an odd room with a telephone, a mirror and a grandfather clock, and the only way out is to reach enlightenment. Players often recommend it as the entry point into the Rusty Lake games.
With about 96% of nearly 2,800 reviews positive, players clearly love it. They point to the surreal mood, calm soundtrack and creative puzzles that become easier once you grasp the game's logic, with the first stage the steepest. Long-time fans note that this remake ties more closely into the wider lore than the original did, and one calls it a gentler, smaller take on Cube Escape: Paradox.
The only real limits are size and some moments of confusion; one player suggests keeping a notebook nearby. Most finish in one to three hours. Since it is free there is little reason not to try it, especially if you are curious about Rusty Lake. Skip it only if surreal, cryptic puzzles are not your thing.
Pros
- Free and an ideal introduction to the Rusty Lake universe
- Clock, mirror and telephone puzzles reward learning the logic
- Calm, eerie soundtrack and surreal mood
Cons
- Short, a single room you finish in an evening
- Opening stage can be confusing until it clicks
