Abode is a VR-only, single-room escape game set in a run-down apartment with a noir detective feel and a few sci-fi gadgets. You search drawers and boxes, repair broken equipment and combine objects to work your way out. It suits VR owners who want a calm, self-contained puzzle session rather than a long adventure.
Players describe the puzzles as logical and fair, with most solvable through careful searching rather than lucky guesses. Glowing pucks found around the room unlock hints and also feed the final puzzle, which several reviewers liked but one found forced them to collect every hint. There is no timer, and a twist ending gets a few mentions.
The common complaints are length and physics. Most players finish in 30 to 90 minutes, and several had keys or items fly through walls when teleporting while holding them; reloading the autosave puts them back. Movement is teleport and snap-turn only. Reviewers broadly agree it is worth playing but best bought on sale or in a bundle. Pick it up if you enjoy tidy VR escape rooms; skip it at full price if you want more than an hour of play.
Pros
- Logical, fair puzzles that rarely need a walkthrough
- Hint pucks double as pieces of the final puzzle
- Untimed, so you can search the apartment at your own pace
Cons
- Over in about an hour, steep at full price
- Held items can fly through walls; reload the autosave to recover them
- Teleport and snap-turn only, no smooth locomotion
