Sanctuary is a standalone chapter in PlayTogether Studio's Mad Experiments series: a single first-person escape room set in a cursed convent, playable alone or with up to four people in cross-platform online co-op. The goal is to gather three relics and place them on an altar, through puzzles involving a mirror-guided light beam, a bell melody and the abbots' timeline. It suits groups who want a gothic one-session escape room night.
The reception is fairly positive, with about 36 of 47 Steam reviews recommending it. The one detailed review calls the puzzles good, says you will want to take notes, and points out that a little Greek or Latin helps on a few clues. Players tag it more as dark and gothic than as horror, and the whole story is voiced.
The complaints are practical. There is no save system, even though the environment is one long run, the mirror puzzle is slow to rotate, and resolution options are limited. The store promises 60 to 90 minutes, which matches the median playtime reported. It works well as a short co-op evening at a modest price; solo players wanting a longer adventure should look at the earlier, bigger Mad Experiments games first.
Pros
- Cross-platform online co-op for up to four players
- Varied set pieces: light beams, bell melody, chronology puzzle
- Fully voiced story in a gothic convent setting
Cons
- No save system for one long, continuous room
- Mirror rotation puzzle is slow and fiddly
- Short at around 60 to 90 minutes
