We Were Here Together is the third game in Total Mayhem's two-player co-op puzzle series. You and a partner start at an Antarctic research camp, answer a distress flare, and end up split apart inside the haunted Castle Rock, home of a sinister figure called the Jester. Your only link is a walkie-talkie, so every puzzle depends on describing what you see to someone who cannot see it. It suits pairs of friends with microphones who want a long, demanding co-op night.
Players rate it as one of the better co-op puzzle games, and many call the volume of content a step up from earlier entries. Unlike the first two games, you spend more time together, which changes how puzzles are built. Reviewers stress that it rewards patience and a partner you communicate well with.
The frustrations are consistent: puzzles give little feedback, so working out what a puzzle even wants is often harder than solving it, and some solutions feel like guesswork. A timed ending, cutscenes replayed after checkpoints and connection drops also draw complaints, and public lobbies are mostly empty. Expect five to eight hours. Recommended for established co-op partners; bring a friend, not a stranger.
Pros
- Walkie-talkie communication is the core of every puzzle
- Longer campaign than earlier entries, from Antarctic camp to castle
- Creepy Castle Rock setting with the series' Jester mystery
Cons
- Puzzles give little feedback on whether you're on the right track
- Connection drops and a timed finale frustrate some pairs
- Co-op only with mics; public lobbies are mostly empty
About
Embark on a puzzle solving adventure in which you and a partner must prove you can communicate and work together to escape the haunted Castle Rock.
It all begins with an emergency flare lighting up the sky and a distress call waking you from uneasy dreams. Your fellow Antarctic explorers are in trouble, and the two of you left at base camp must work together to launch a rescue mission. If only you knew what you were getting into…
From the research base camp you’ll need to figure out a way to get to the source of the distress flare. Once you’re through the frozen Antarctic wastes, you'll find yourselves separated inside a medieval castle, facing puzzles, secrets, and dangers! You and your partner start out with nothing but your wits and a walkie-talkie each. Observation, smart communication and teamwork will be the only way to escape from the sinister Castle Rock.Features
