The Room Two is Fireproof Games' sequel to The Room, rebuilt in HD for PC. Instead of one puzzle box you follow letters from a mysterious scientist known as AS through a series of themed rooms, from a crypt to a ship's cabin, each with its own set of mechanical puzzles. It suits solo players who like tactile, hands-on puzzles and a quiet gothic mood with a Lovecraftian edge.
Players are overwhelmingly positive: about 97 percent of more than 10,000 Steam reviews recommend it. Many prefer it to the first game, praising more varied locations, more inventive mechanisms and a lore thread that ties the rooms together. Most describe the difficulty as just right, with built-in hints for when you get stuck.
The few criticisms are mild. Some puzzles come down to spotting which small detail can be clicked, and a couple of reviewers found much of it too easy. It is also short, with most players finishing in three to four hours. At its low price that is barely a drawback. Any puzzle fan should buy it, ideally after playing the first game.
Pros
- Each chapter is a separate themed room with its own mechanisms
- Built-in hints prevent long dead ends
- Bigger and more varied than the first game, at a low price
Cons
- Some puzzles hinge on spotting tiny clickable details
- Short, finished in three to four hours
