Sleepy Hollow is a Halloween-themed room for Tales of Escape, sold as DLC for the base game. You and your friends are locked in a decorated graveyard after midnight, sensing a mysterious figure who seems to have trapped you there, and you have to solve your way out. It supports solo play and online co-op, and suits groups who already own Tales of Escape and want another short spooky room.
Reception is split almost evenly, at 10 positive and 8 negative reviews. Older reviews describe a ten- to twenty-minute map with clues placed right next to their puzzles, while newer ones say it was expanded with more areas and took their pair around an hour. Those who liked it mention the atmosphere and well-thought-out puzzles, especially in co-op.
The most repeated complaint is darkness: several groups struggled to see clues, with no in-game brightness option. One reviewer also found the hints repeat without helping. Most agree it is easier than the Illusion and Mine rooms, so play it first if you are buying several. Worth its low price for co-op fans of the series; solo players and those after a challenge can skip it.
Pros
- Halloween graveyard setting with a creepy mystery figure
- Online co-op makes it a quick group session
- Cheap add-on that newer reviewers say was expanded
Cons
- Map is very dark and brightness cannot be adjusted
- Short and easier than the series' other rooms
- DLC that requires the Tales of Escape base game
About
It is the night of Halloween and you find yourselves locked in a spooky graveyard after midnight. The place is decorated for the occasion, but awfully quiet, no one seems to be around, yet you can tell that you are not alone… You can feel the presence of a mysterious man, is he the one that locked you in here? And if so, what does he want? Can you figure it out before it’s too late?
